A luxury glamping experience in the heart of Running Stream, New South Wales.
We built Akuna Estate with a vision to blend luxury, sustainability and nature into a seamless experience for our guests.
Meet your hosts
Helen & Toby.
Helen and Toby, proud parents of three sons and grandparents to two grandchildren, own and operate this family-run retreat.
Everything here is touched by their hands and shaped by their care, from the timber underfoot to the breakfast provided in your tent. When you stay at Akuna Estate, you’re a guest of the family.
We also host a handful of intimate weddings and elopements each season. Celebrate with us.
Our commitment to sustainability
One of our signature features is the decking, constructed from wood salvaged from trees on our property that were damaged in the 2019 bushfires.
Each piece of timber is milled, cut and stained by hand, showcasing the beautiful grain and unique character of the wood. What the fire took, we gave a second life, underfoot on every deck.

Just 45 minutes from the iconic Blue Mountains and 40 minutes from the Mudgee wine region, at around 1000 m elevation in Running Stream.

A wood fire as the main heat source, with a gas heater to take the chill off in the morning, plus electric blankets, quality linen, a two-burner cooker with cookware, an ensuite, leather sofa and a convertible dining table.
We are at about 1000 m elevation, so it is regularly up to 10°C cooler than Sydney. Bring a few warm layers.
